Premier to visit the UK and Germany
3 August 2019
Boosting international investment into NSW and creating jobs will be the focus of Premier Gladys Berejiklian’s upcoming trade mission to the United Kingdom and Germany.
This will be the first visit for a NSW Premier to the UK for more than 14 years and Germany for more than two decades.
“This mission presents unique investment opportunities for NSW given the UK’s Brexit plans,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“Some of the deals we are signing on this mission are a direct result of UK and European organisations looking to extend their global footprints outside the EU in a post-Brexit world.”
A major focus of the mission will be attracting further international investment into the Aerotropolis being built around the new Western Sydney Airport.
This will build on the 13 Memorandums of Understanding already completed in the past 12 months across what will be seven countries by the end of the mission. Those MOUs have involved partnerships with Australian, Japanese, Korean, American and French companies.
The Premier will meet with key Government officials, ratings agencies, advanced manufacturing firms, infrastructure companies, research facilities and global financiers in both the UK and Germany.
The mission will take place from August 11 to 16. Ms Berejiklian will be joined by Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres.
